Listed Housing Agent Scheme

1.     Since 1 Dec 95, HDB has implemented the Listed Housing Agents Scheme (LHAS) to curb the practice of under-the-table cash advances in resale transactions. Under this scheme, buyers and sellers of resale flats who engage the services of the Listed Housing Agents will be accorded priority in processing their resale applications. Resale flat buyers under this scheme will also not need to pay under-the-table money in excess of the $5,000 option money allowed by HDB.

2.     For a start, 27 housing agencies were chosen to participate in the LHAS . They are selected from HDB's panel of professional valuers and those agents appointed by HDB to buy back 3-room flats from the resale market. Prospective buyers and sellers are encouraged to approach these agencies if they wish to benefit from the shorter transaction time accorded under this scheme.
